Afternoon in Ribadesella

In the afternoon I walked across the bridge to seek lunch. I found a restaurant in a back street with reasonable prices and had their 3 course lunch of the day. The entree of seafood soup was very good.

My main of brochettes was not so good a choice on my part. I think I was tempted by the sauce. Another patron was having a more enticing fish main. But my main wasn't hard to put away when washed down with a beer.

Back on the beach side of town, the sun had finally come out so I walked along Calle de Dionoso Ruisánchez where I took a picture of this holiday home Antiguo Chalet Zabala.

The modern wing of Hotel Villa Rosario II, an establishment I had considered but a bit above my budget.

I was pleased to see the Aussie flag included.

Later in evening, it was high tide on the beaches.

And parts of the sea wall were being attacked.

The harbour looking dramatic in the sunset light.

Sunset painting the distant mountains golden.

There are no pictures for the next day 10th October. I caught a bus which took about 2 hours to reach Gijón, stopping everywhere as it was a milk run service for locals. Nor were there great views as the road is inland in this part of Asturias.

At Gijón I found my hotel, got my laundry done and settled in for the night. The next two days will however feature a bonanza of pictures as I had booked a couple of excursions. I had tried to find excursions from Ribadesella, but the peak season was over and excursions were only from major cities. Anyway Ribadesella was a restful interlude.
