Llanes — Playa de Puerto Chico

One drawback of the hotel I chose was that they were too small to provide an in-house breakfast. But it was close to the centre of the town so there was no shortage of breakfast establishments.

This was taken from my table outside a bakery while having pastries with coffee.

Another candidate just next to the bridge. It's obvious that there is a fair bit of tourist traffic to Llanes.

Breakfast taken care of, I headed to the harbour, crossing the river at the bridge further ahead in the photo.

A few minutes walking east found me at the sculpture Monumento a la Mujer del Pescador (Monument to the Fisherman's Wife). It reminds us that more so in the past fishermen risked their lives going to sea, especially in the wild Atlantic and womenfolk worried and prayed for their safe return.

The Playa de Puerto Chico. It's not as good a beach as Playa de El Sablón, but has its own character.

Still suitable for dog walkers though.

A panoramic view.

Probaby some of these are holiday homes.

In context.

Down at the beach this is the view I had.

Mud left behind by the retreating waves with dog pawprints.

Tidal pool.

Back on higher ground, a general view of the beach.

I walked back to town along the main coastal road.

A lunch of a fairly decent sausage pizza at La Pizzeria la Compuerta accompanied by a beer.
