My Ouigo express train to Bordeaux was in the early afternoon, so I had the morning to pass. I saw that my lodgings on Bd. Pasteur were about 15 minutes walk from the
Eiffel Tower, via Bd. Garibaldi. So after breakfast I started off. The metro is elevated on this line to
Bir-Hakeim station. I remembered the name from my first visit to Paris over 40 years ago as the station to access the tower.
I took this picture because I noticed that the Australian Embassy was in the vicinity of the tower.
This is going to be the second of several pictures of the tower, so if you are prone to tower-sickness, I don't mind if you leave now. 馃槈
Of course if you are up close it's impossible to capture the whole tower. I wasn't planning on going up; I had done it years ago and I didn't have the time or interest.
Well, at least I can get the first two levels.
When you step back onto the
Champ de Mars, then it's possible to take a picture of all of it. Hmm, I didn't know that there is a ghost station bearing the same name until I looked at Wikipedia.
I returned to my lodgings along the other side of Bd. Garibaldi, checked out, and trundled my luggage to Montparnasse Station to grab lunch then catch an express service to Bordeaux.
There are no more pictures for this day. I found my lodgings in Bordeaux and didn't take any more pictures until breakfast the next day.
