So here I was, in a comfy hotel with in-house buffet breakfast. Ribadesella had no must-see sights, so I had only to relax and enjoy myself. So after a sumptious breakfast I stepped out of the rear entrance of the hotel and walked onto the sand.
This was my horizon.
Some distance to the west got me this view. Actually I'm probably on Playa de Ribadesella now, the two beaches are colinear.
A telephoto shot of the Ermita de la Guia on the headland. It isn't obvious but it's on the other bank of the River Sella; the river reaches the ocean betwen the beach and the headland.
I reached the western headland and looked back on exposed rock at low tide.
The wide view.
A couple of minutes walk found me at the end of the path, at the Mirador de la Punta del Pozo with a view of more exposed rocks to the west.
It is possible to ascent the headland where there is a lighthouse and views over the beaches but it's a significant diversion. The weather wasn't encouraging, it was gloomy but at least it wasn't raining.
The way I came.
I returned via the promenade.
Houses on the other bank.
The river deposited organic matter on this bank.
A panoramic view also showing the mountains to the south of the town.
